Please remember that if you claimed the first R30 000.00 from your 2-Pot savings, you will be entitled to a new savings pot starting from 1 September 2024. However, the new pot will no longer offer another R30 000.00 claim.
You should also note that once you claim from your 2-pot after 1 March 2025, you will only be eligible for your next claim after 1 March 2026. This means that a claim can only be made once in every tax year, which runs from 1 March to 28/29 February each year.
Please be aware that tax is deducted at your average tax rate, which may be quite high. It is therefore advisable to claim from your 2-Pot savings only under extreme circumstances.
If you do not claim, your money will continue to accumulate investment returns, which will support your retirement income in the future.
