The Municipal Workers Retirement Fund (MWRF) demonstrates a commitment to financial accountability and sound management practices. This is evidenced by the unqualified opinion issued by the independent auditors on 27th September 2024, following their audit of the Fund’s annual financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2023. The audit was conducted in accordance with International Standards on Auditing. The auditors, PKF VGA Incorporated, confirmed that the financial statements were prepared in accordance with the Regulatory Reporting Requirements for Retirement Funds in South Africa.
This unqualified opinion signifies that the financial statements present a fair and accurate representation of the Fund’s financial position and performance. Furthermore, the auditors drew on evidence obtained regarding information contained in the schedule that has been extracted from the Fund’s underlying accounting records that were the subject of their audit engagement on the annual financial statements. This thorough scrutiny of the Fund’s financial records provides stakeholders with confidence in the integrity and reliability of the reported financial information.

The Municipal Workers Retirement Fund (MWRF) is pleased to provide an update on the implementation of the two-pot system and the resulting disbursement of funds to its members.
